Healthcare remains a cornerstone of our work in Busoga, with a focus on increasing access to essential services. In 2016, Twegaite International initiated a comprehensive cancer screening and awareness program aimed at reducing cancer mortality rates in the region. Through partnerships with local health centers and organizations like Jinja Hospital, our cancer outreach has expanded, enabling free screenings for breast and cervical cancer. We also purchased a Cancer Screening Ambulance, which brings essential medical services to underserved areas in rural Busoga.
Impact: Thousands of women have benefited from the screenings, and the program continues to save lives by facilitating early detection and treatment
Jinja Hospital Cancer Ward Renovation Twegaite International undertook a major renovation of the cancer ward at Jinja Hospital in 2016. The ward was equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including new beds, medical supplies, and advanced diagnostic tools. This renovation has had a significant impact on the quality of care available to cancer patients in the region.
Impact: Improved patient care and hospital capacity to treat cancer cases locally.
Twegaite Health Days Our health days are periodic events where we offer a wide range of medical services, including screenings for chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension, general health check-ups, and immunizations. These health days serve communities that lack access to basic medical care.
Impact: Hundreds of people receive free health services, contributing to healthier and more resilient communities.
