Founded in 1998, the Twegaite International Organization has been at the forefront of uniting the Busoga diaspora and driving impactful initiatives in education, health, tourism, and economic development. However, it wasn’t until 2008 that Twegaite International began hosting conventions. The first decade was dedicated to laying the groundwork for critical projects that continue to benefit the Busoga region.
Since then, our conventions have become key events, connecting the diaspora and friends of Busoga, celebrating our heritage, and fostering meaningful collaboration to address pressing community needs.

The inaugural run brought together diaspora members and Minnesotans to celebrate unity, fitness, and community engagement.
As Twegaite continued lobbying for Jinja City status, the second edition of the run emphasized Jinja’s tourism potential.
The third edition further showcased Jinja as a top tourist destination. In collaboration with the Uganda Tourism Board and other partners, the event featured unique attractions, including bringing zoo animals to Jinja for a week-long exhibition.
These runs have become a vital component of Twegaite’s efforts to promote tourism, unity, and community development, leaving a lasting impact on both participants and the region.
