Founded in 1998 in New Jersey, Twegaite International Organization began as a small group of passionate individuals united by a common goal: uplifting and empowering communities in Busoga, Uganda. What started as a regional initiative has since evolved into a global movement, connecting members across continents and creating a powerful network of unity and impact.
Today, Twegaite International boasts a diverse membership from the United States, Canada, Uganda, Europe, Asia, and the rest of Africa. Together, we are committed to fostering sustainable development, preserving cultural heritage, and empowering future generations through education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
We envision a thriving Busoga community where every individual has access to the resources, education, and opportunities they need to succeed. By bringing together individuals from around the world, we aim to bridge the gap between the diaspora and Busoga, creating lasting change and stronger ties.
To promote unity, growth, and impact within Busoga through collaborative projects, advocacy, and sustainable programs that address critical needs in education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and cultural preservation.
We believe in the transformative power of education. Over the years, we’ve provided scholarships, scholastic materials, and essential resources to empower girls and boys in Busoga to achieve their full potential.
From renovating the Jinja Cancer Ward to providing ambulances for cancer screening outreach, we are dedicated to improving healthcare access and outcomes in Busoga.
Our Microfinance Project has provided low-interest loans to women and youth, enhancing agricultural practices and promoting entrepreneurship.
Through global conventions, Twegaite Source of the Nile Marathons, and cultural exchange programs, we celebrate the rich heritage of Busoga and strengthen connections within the diaspora.
Although we are now a global organization, Twegaite International remains deeply rooted in Busoga’s needs and aspirations. Our members, united by shared values and a passion for service, work tirelessly to create opportunities and inspire hope for the communities we serve.
